Petite Fashion Challenge #10: Summer to Fall

"Take traditionally summer pieces (like tank tops, shorts, mini skirts, sundresses etc.) and make them appropriate for fall."

Thank you to Liz of Fashion for Teens for hosting this challenge!

American Eagle dress / Banana Republic vest, xsp / Anthropologie belt
family locket / Ann Taylor bracelet / Frye boots / Gucci purse

This belt is great for smaller waists since it can be fastened at any spot! Currently, this style is available in black.

No socks for boots? Cut a pair of regular socks!

This locket is from my grandma's collection. I wish I knew more about it! I was always so intrigued by it as a kid. It feels so special wearing it now as an adult!

GAP Draped Knit Vest & Super Lightweight Back-Zip Legging Jeans

GAP draped knit vest, xs in heather brown
style #850531   full price: $49.95

GAP super lightweight back-zip legging jeans oor in light gray
style #847769   full price: $69.95

I loved the color of this vest. In person, it has a pink hue. However...

...the draping kept falling like this! That would really bug me.

I think the color and quality of these pants look way better in person than online.

Cute back zipper!

These were so comfortable!

These do not look cute rolled up. I will definitely be stalking these in a oop!

Let me know if you did a recent GAP review so I can add you to the "Related Content" list!

Ann Taylor Sparkle Grid Stretch Bracelet

sparkle grid stretch bracelet
Style #184693

I was lucky enough to win this bracelet from Annie's recent giveaway. I was anxious to wear both this bracelet and my Ann Taylor color block cowl neck top. I was determined to pair them together! It was difficult! I really wanted something white on bottom, but I had zilch to work with! Here is what I was able to put together for a casual dinner look.

AT top, oop / Hollister skirt
J. Crew belt / LOFT sandals / Gucci purse

Please excuse all the plastic golf balls in the yard! My husband likes to chip back there. I think I used the correct terminology.

I am so glad I bought this shirt! It was great on its first run! Has not been laundered yet, so I will update you if any significant changes occur! I actually noticed that there was a snag in the one I bought. So before my Seattle trip I called up to the downtown store and had them hold a oop for me to exchange. Turns out the price was reduced more (but it is not online?! Must have been a promotional sale), so I ended up getting $10-20 credited to me! Very nice!!

This stretch bracelet measures 6.25". My wrists measure just over 5.25" and this fits perfectly! I think anything with "stretch" in the name is a good option for small wrists!

Has anyone else picked up this shirt or bracelet?

Take an Additional 30% Off J. Crew Final Sale Items

piped leather belt, small
Style #47069    my price: $48 $13.99

I have been stalking this item since seeing it on Cee. Today J. Crew Aficionada posted that final sale items would receive an extra 30% off with code MUSTSHOP. I immediately searched for the belt and found it in a small. Lately, many of J. Crew's belts are meant to be worn high-waisted (check under the item's "more" section), so do not be turned off when you see just a small. I have a few of their belts in smalls that I can wear on my waist or higher up. Love the versatility!

I highly recommend this belt for the sale price of $9.09! I ordered this back in April in a size small. It measures 36.5 inches. When I wear it lower on my waist, I can only use the first notch!

This was the other item I ordered today. I thought it would be cute for $9!

I should have also ordered this. Grr! So sad I did not! Someone pick this up so you can love it! As I was typing this up and staring at the pretty picture, I called up J. Crew customer service to see if I could add this to the order I just placed. They could not, but the operator offered to place a new order for the necklace and wave the shipping charges! Nice to know they do that!

This chambray jacket is very cute! See this on Amber. Also, scroll through her site to find current J. Crew reviews.

Use code MUSTSHOP for an additional 30% off sale items!

Ann Taylor Leopard Print Sheath Dress

leopard print sheath dress, oop
Style #265444   full price: $148

Hi ladies! Jean expressed interest in the AT leopard print skirt. I was able to find the dress version to try on. I am new to sheath dresses, but have become curious after seeing so many petite bloggers styling them.

It looks like there is a hint of green in this print.

A statement necklace would be great with this high neckline. See how Jean does it with a neutral sheath dress.

Passes the armhole check! Unfortunately, no pockets! Also, it is dry clean only.

See the bracelet on the bench? That is from Annie's giveaway. It was my first time wearing it out...loving it! Outfit pics coming soon!

I do love this print, but I think all this animal print would be inappropriate for the classroom.

a.n.a Roll Sleeve Shirt

a.n.a roll sleeve shirt, sp in blue
sale price: $34.00 $21.99

Small fit alert on this J.C. Penney top! The smallest size at my local store was only a petite small, but it is also available online in petite x-small and regular sizes.

Styled for a Movie

Any Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans? This is what I wore to the Rifftrax showing last night of Jack the Giant Killer.

Old Navy shorts / Banana Republic belt / LOFT velma banded sandal 7
J. Crew hobo / Judith Jack necklace & Christian Dior necklace

Great length! Tuck in completely or do the front-tuck, exposing a fun belt.

These sleeves are rolled up three times. Unrolled, they hit four inches below my elbow.

This shirt does well in 90° weather. It is just light enough to keep cool, but a bra will not peek through.

Styled in Seattle

LOFT jeggings / J. Crew belt / TOMS 'classic' canvas slip-on, 6.5
Juicy Couture necklace

A little Canadian tuexdo-ish. My husband called me "Zapp Rowsdower", another MST3K reference for yah! :) That is the flagship Nordstrom right behind my arm...see the vertical blue sign?

The family relaxed on the rooftop before dinner. My mother-in-law put together this snack for us: heirloom tomatoes from Pike Place Market, Mozzarella from De Laurenti sprinkled with Tuscan Sunset seasoning from Penzey's. Served with oil and vinegar for dipping.

After wash/dry: 1). 25" top to bottom (back); 2). 18.25" top of y-neck to bottom (front); 3). 16" width at midpoint; 4). 14" side seam (armpit to bottom); 5). 14.25" shoulder seam to shoulder seam

This shirt is 100% cotton. It shrunk up about half an inch after its first wash/dry.

Any other JCPenney item suggestions?

Free People Scoop Back Knit 2fer Tunic

scoop back knit 2fer tunic
ivory, xs, style#: #20824967
also available champagne combo, grey combo
full price: $118.00

This felt so cozy! The layer beneath is basically a sheer tank dress.

Such comfortable and fitted sleeves! No itchiness.

The back is longer than the front. The bottom layer has subtle stripes.

This would be fun to wear belted with a long necklace, skinny jeans, and boots. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law insisted they liked how it looked on me. But $118? I was not loving the fit enough to pay full price. Too bad, because the fabric felt so a blanket!

Here is what a 5'3" reviewer (my height) has to say about this piece on

"as soon as I saw this top I knew I had to get it and it was totally worth it! I got an xs in the champagne color and the color is the same as pictured. I'm 118 pounds 5'3 and on me I could wear this as a dress which I loved. The dress is true to size its form fitting on me but not tight and its just a great piece! The pink champagne color is beautiful and I plan to wear this as a dress and over leggings as well!"

Banana Republic Cable-Knit Sweater Vest Review

cable-knit sweater vest
light beige, xsp, style#: #851040
also available in purple petal
full price: $79.50

Hi ladies! I just returned from Seattle. I got a chance to wear this new BR vest that my in-laws gifted me back in June. Due to its thickness, this is great for weather in the mid-seventies or lower. I will definitely be styling this more in the fall!

Ann Taylor shirt & necklace / LOFT jeggings / TOMS shoes, size 6.5 / J. Crew belt

I love the braided detail in varying sizes.

To create a more slimming look, this would look cute belted over a dress.

Features vertical stitching down the back.

The xsp appears wide from the back view.
An xxsp would probably be best for those my size or smaller.

The neckline feels like a scarf.

1). 27" top to bottom (back)
2). 9" shoulder to shoulder
3). 15" width at midpoint
100% cotton
*Before wash/dry

Why I feel bad leaving...
